At its heart, the Memory Cafe provides a safe space for people living with memory issues or dementia as well as their families & friends. Come and join us for tea and cake and oh so much more!

Heather facilitates our Memory Café. She is our Wellbeing Co-ordinator who specialises in dementia and memory loss; she is also a qualified occupational Therapist. Her knowledge and experience is vast, but the Memory Café is not a clinical place, it is a place to have fun and to provide a space for families, friends and members alike. Heather may though, be able to discuss any issues or questions that you may have relating to memory loss or dementia.

We have some terrific volunteers who come along; many have dedicated their time for years. It is this spirit which we try to capture so that our members feel included, loved and enjoy time out of their home with others.

We understand that joining a group can be daunting, so we will always endeavour to accompany you or make sure that someone joins you so that you do not feel nervous.

Our connecting communities philosophy is embedded in all that we do and having fun is key to that. Watching people make cards, sing, enjoy a quiz or poetry has been humbling, especially when those who initially thought that they had no interest join in and thoroughly enjoy it. That said, we are always mindful that some people prefer to come along and enjoy the Café for just that – a nice cuppa and a piece of homemade cake, so do come and give it a try!

If you would like to discuss attending the Memory Café or perhaps volunteering, whether to drive members, wash up or sit with a member, please do contact us. We would love you to join in.
